The Polar Plunge certainly lived up to it’s name this year.
The event was held on Saturday morning at Paintsville Lake with dozens of people braving the cold weather.
The event is hosted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and, this year, in partnership with the Veterans Referral Center and the Johnson County Wrestling Team.
Johnson County Sheriff Dwayne Price and Deputy Terry Tussey were the first two jumping into the water.
Several local fire and rescue officials were on hand to ensure everyone was safe both in and out of the water.
Temperatures Saturday morning were in the low to mid 30s.
