A Flood Watch is in effect for much of the area through Friday morning.
Forecasters say widespread moderate, to at times heavy, rainfall will move across the area through this evening. Thunderstorms could produce localized heavier rainfall. This will allow for a threat of areal flooding through Thursday night. A few points on the Kentucky and Red Rivers could rise to around bankfull by late tonight.
Expect to see area streams, creeks and rivers rise to bankfull and a few to flood stage. The ground is already saturated and an additional inch to inch and a half of rain could fall across the area through tonight.
The National Weather Service says the following counties are included in the Flood Watch: Bath, Breathitt, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Jackson, Johnson, Laurel, Lee, Magoffin, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan, Owsley, Powell, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Rowan, Wayne, and Wolfe.
