Schools in the Pike County school district were closed on Tuesday as educators rallied in the Pikeville City Park.
Hundreds of people filled the streets of downtown Pikeville voicing their opposition of Senate Bill 151.
The group of educators, known as Pike County Strong, also rallied in Frankfort on Monday and made the decision to rally at the local level.
In nearby Floyd County, schools were in session on Tuesday; students at Floyd Central High School reportedly walked out of the classroom during the school day in a move to show support for their teachers.
