The line of duty death benefits bill is on its way to the governor’s desk. HB 185 was passed by the full House yesterday. If signed by Governor Bevin, it would allow spouses of police officers, firefighters and other state workers killed on the job to automatically get benefits and collect 75 percent of their late spouse’s salary. They’re currently only able to get 25 percent of their spouse’s pay.
