According to the Paintsville Police Department, a 2 vehicle accident happened late Wednesday night. Information provided said Dispatch received a call concerning a 2 vehicle accident with possible injuries around 11:15 PM on Euclid Ave. near Highland Ave in Paintsville. Captain Jonathan Holbrook and Officers Zach Stapleton and Officer Zach Mitchell responded to the scene and upon arrival found a Silver Ford Focus had collided with a White Trailblazer. The impact of the crash caused the Trailblazer to turn 180 degrees and come to a final rest in front of the Paintsville 911 (Dispatch) Center. Captain Holbrook said the distance from impact to final stop was around 150 feet between vehicles.
Captain Holbrook also stated that the driver of the Ford Focus, identified as Troy Conley, admitted to Officers that he had been drinking and had left his home to go get some cigarettes. Conley reportedly was traveling toward downtown Paintsville, while the Trailblazer was traveling toward the Recreation Center before impact. Conley was the lone occupant of the Ford Focus, but the Trailblazer had 3 people inside. One of those occupants was taken to Paul B. Hall Medical Center by Paintsville EMS with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford Focus, Troy Conley was also taken to Paul B. Hall Medical Center by Paintsville EMS, complaining of a back injury. After being cleared by medical personnel, Conley was arrested and was charged with Wanton Endangerment 2nd Degree, Assault 1st degree, Operating Motor Vehicle Under Influence (Alcohol/Drugs/ETC .08 Aggravated Circumstances) 1st Degree, Failure to Produce Insurance Card and No Registration Receipt. He has been lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. Captain Jonathan Holbrook and Officers Zach Stapleton and Zach Mitchell, along with Paintsville EMS and Paintsville Fire Department all responded to this accident scene. The Paintsville Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident.
