A Johnson Co. woman was arrested Thursday by the Paintsville Police Department, after a business reported receiving counterfeit money.
According to Officer Keith Maynard with the Paintsville Police Dept. Officers were called to VIP Fuels on Rt 40 East in Paintsville, across from Central Elementary School, because management said they had received counterfeit money on 2 separate occasions.
The first time happened Wednesday evening, when the business received a counterfeit $20 bill.
The business could not tell Police who the suspect was at that time.
On Thursday around 7 PM, the business contacted Police again and said they had received a counterfeit $50 bill and the person was still at the store.
When Officers arrived on scene, they found a female identified as 35 year old Melissa Leeann Terry of Wittensville.
Managers at the store said Terry tried to use the $50 bill for a purchase and that’s when they notified Police.
Terry was arrested and charged with the following:
* Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument, 1st Degree
* Theft by Deception-Include Cold Checks under $500
* Contempt of Court Libel/Slander Resistance to Order
Melissa L. Terry was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
Officer Zach Mitchell was the arresting Officer and in continue to investigate.
