Former Prestonsburg Mayor Jerry Fannin entered a Alford Plea in Federal Court on Tuesday. Fannin is reportedly accused of directing city funds to the former East Kentucky Drillers football franchise while he was mayor of Prestonsburg. He suffered a series of strokes and says he doesn’t recall the events that took place during that time in his life. An Alford Plea is a guilty plea in which the defendant does not admit guilt but concedes there is enough evidence for a conviction. His sentencing is set for August.
