A Johnson Co woman who has been accused of killing her newborn daughter, has been scheduled to go to trial. Amanda Meade, 33 of Van Lear is accused of having “wantonly with extreme indifference to the value of human life, caused the death of Infant Meade, a minor child, as a result of severing the newborn’s umbilical cord with scissors following the infant’s birth at Meade’s home”. Investigators said that when she cut the cord, she did not clamp it. Meade’s trial is set for October 29 in Johnson Co. Meade faces a murder charge.
