H.S. Basketball

* Johnson Central will be holding their annual Eagle Madness on Saturday, November 17. It's a full day of basketball action as all 6 local elementary schools will be playing that day, JCMS 7th and 8th grade will also be in action on Saturday. The JCHS Lady Eagles basketball team will have their black/gold scrimmage, followed by the 15th Region championship ceremony and the JCHS Golden Eagles black/gold scrimmage. This event begins at 9AM and will go throughout the day.

* Also on Tuesday, November 20, JCHS will host their Eagle Shootout. At 5:30 pm JCHS boys vs. Magoffin Co. 6:30 pm Paintsville vs. Fleming Co. 7:30 pm JCHS girls vs Raceland and at 8:30 pm Betsy Layne vs. Lewis Co. Sponsored by Mcdonald's of East Ky and Hutch Chevrolet, Buick, GMC of Paintsville.

UK Basketball

* The Kentucky men’s basketball team has received National Letters of Intent from Aaron and Andrew Harrison, Marcus Lee, Derek Willis and James Young, head coach John Calipari announced Thursday. Analysts have predicted it will mark the fifth consecutive top-ranked class in the country for the Wildcats. The early signing period runs through Nov. 21.

* UK will be back in action tonight and for the first time at home, as the CATS will be hosting the Lafayette Leopards @ 7 pm. UK is 1-1, while Lafayette also comes in at 1-1. This game can be heard live right here on 98.9 FM WSIP, with Pre-game coverage beginning at 5:30 pm.

UK Football

For the final time in 2012, the football CATS will perform in front of the home crowd Saturday against Samford at 7:30 p.m. UK comes in with only 1 win (Kent State) vs. 9 losses and a 0-7 SEC mark. Saturday will serve as the annual Senior Night game for Kentucky as it will honor a total of 19 seniors, including a redshirt junior forgoing his senior season and a undergraduate assistant coach that would have been a member of the senior class. This will also be coach Joker Phillips last home game as head coach of UK. Phillips will be let go at the end of the season, after 3 years. This game can be heard live right here on 98.9 WSIP beginning with pre-game at 6:00 pm, kickoff slated for 7:30 pm.
