UK Men's Basketball

The Univ. of Ky men's basketball team picked up another win Friday evening, as the CATS defeated visiting Long Island LIU 104-75. After a sluggish start and trailing 43-40, UK settled down and controlled the rest of the way. UK led 55-43 at the half and never slowed down in the 2nd half. 5 Cats were in double figures led by Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress who both had 22. Nerlens Noel had 18 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks. Willie Cauley-Stein had 12 points and 8 rebounds, while Julius Mays played a solid game and chipped in with 15 and Jarrod Polson added 5 points. UK will have a couple of days off before getting back in action on the road Thursday, November 29 as they travel to South Bend, Indiana to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish @ 7PM.

UK Women's Basketball

Senior A'dia Mathies scored 17 points, Samarie Walker added 13 and the No. 9 Kentucky women's basketball team forced 38 turnovers in a 100-34 blowout of USC Upstate on Sunday. DeNesha Stallworth added 11 points and Janee Thompson had 10 for the Wildcats (4-1), who shot 50 percent in winning their 24th consecutive home game. Bria Goss and Azia Bishop led Kentucky with six rebounds. Walker also had three blocks. Every player scored for the Wildcats, who shot 12 of 30 from 3-point range in breaking 100 points for the first time this season. Kentucky was coming off a 73-37 victory over Morehead State on Friday, but Wildcats coach Matt Mitchell wasn't happy with how his team reacted. He had no complaints after a game in which his players were active on both ends from start to finish.

UK Football

The Univ. of Ky football team played their final game of the season Saturday in Knoxville, TN and it wasn't the outcome they had hoped it would be in the final coaching game of Joker Phillips UK career. Trailing 20-14 at the half, the Cats couldn't muster much offense in the second half. Craig McIntosh knocked in a field goal early in the third quarter to cut Tennessee's lead to 20-17, but it wouldn't get any closer than that. UT QB Tyler Bray, threw two second half touchdowns, four for the day, to beat Kentucky 37-17. The Cats finish the season 2-10 and winless in the SEC. UK AD. Mitch Barnhardt said after the game the search for a new coach is taking shape, but no offers have been confirmed.
