Johnson Central Names New Girls Basketball Coach

It was announced on Tuesday, that Johnson Central H.S. has hired their new Girls basketball coach. Darrin Rice will take over the Lady Eagles program. He takes over for Selena Cochran, who was at JCHS for 4 seasons and compiled a 45-67 record. Coach Rice is a Johnson Central graduate and has been a former assistant at JCHS, but has been the Head coach at Sheldon Clark H.S. for the past 6 seasons and compiled a record of 114-54, with (2) District Titles back-to-back (2009/2010 and 2010/2011), as well as (1) 15th Region Title (2010/2011) and (1) 15th Region All-A Title (2010/2011). During his introduction Tuesday afternoon at JCHS, he told those present he expects to win and will bring a fast paced, "in your face" type defense that will pressure, pressure, pressure. He said he knows JCHS has the athletes to compete on a year to year basis and will do all he can to bring the Johnson Central Lady Eagles back to the top of the 57th District and 15th Region standings. Darrin is also Pastor of the Meade's Branch FWB Church in Lawrence Co., Ky. He's married to Bobbi Sue (Banks) and has three children Mallory, Patrick and Jacob.
