JCHS Football Player Signs with University of the Cumberlands

Congratulations to Johnson Central High School Sr. Jimmy Preston, who has signed a Letter of Intent to continue his Education and Football career at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. The signing took place on Wednesday afternoon on the campus of Johnson Central. Jimmy was a fixture on the football field for Coach Jim Matney and the Golden Eagles on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, but is best known for his Defensive "Kamikaze" hard hitting style, as well as an aggressive punt and kickoff returner. A 4 year starter in the Defensive backfield, Preston helped lead the Golden Eagles to an overall record of 36-14, including an impressive District mark of 13-1. The UC Patriots finished last season 10-2 and return several key players for Head Coach John Bland (8th Season)and rated in the Top 10 by the coaches for this upcoming season in  NAIA.

Jimmy also acheived success as a Golden Eagle Wrestler for Coach Jim Matney and earning Regional Titles in 2013 (160) and 2012 (152), as well as 2nd Place finishes in 2011 (152) and 2010 (152) and a 3rd place in 2009 (135). He also placed in State competition, earning a 6th place finish in 2013 (160) and a 4th place finish in 2012 (152).

Jimmy Preston is the son of Derrick and Donna Preston of Oil Springs and Shasta Evans of Paintsville.
