According to the Johnson Co. Sheriff’s Office, on Monday afternoon around 2:45 PM Paintsville/Johnson Co. 911 received a call concerning a reckless driver coming out of Floyd Co. on US 321 just past Porter Elementary School and just before the American Standard turnoff. Chief Deputy Kevin Pelphrey said the car was traveling in a reckless manner and the driver, identified as Jason Bevins, apparently lost control, hit a culvert, flipped and then the vehicle landed on top of him. A passerby seen the accident and immediately got the jack from his vehicle and jacked the vehicle up off of Mr. Bevins. Chief Deputy Pelphrey says Bevins suffered severe injuries and burns and was flown to Pikeville Medical Center. No charges have been filed at this time and Chief Deputy Kevin Pelphrey with the Johnson Co Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
