Two people had to be rescued from floodwaters in Breathitt Co on Monday. Officials say the incident happened around 12:30 PM Monday afternoon about 1.5 miles up Highway 1098. WYMT reported that the two people, a man and a woman, were walking along the bank of the Kentucky River when they fell in and was in the water for around an hour and half before they were found holding on to a tree in the rushing waters. Crews from Fish and Wildlife took a boat out and were able to rescue both individuals. They were taken to Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson as a precaution, but appeared to be ok. No additional information has been provided.
