Attorney General Andy Beshear was in town on Thursday speaking with students and faculty of the Johnson County School district.
Beshear met with Johnson County Middle School students who are working to address the opioid epidemic in the area.
The school district is one of the newest partners of the Kentucky Opioid Dispoal Program.
The program works to distribute pouches for anyone to safely dispose of up to 45 prescription opioids inside your home.
Beshear notes that, for example, eight percent of heroine users first became addicted through prescription pills.
The pouches completely deactivate all chemicals in the medicine and can be thrown away in your trash.
200 of these pouches have been madde available through the Johnson County School System.
