According to a news release from the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, one of the two inmates that went missing following a work detail last week in Johnson Co. has been returned to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. On Tuesday, March 27 at 9 PM, Brian E. Olson was returned to the Detention Center by the KSP. In addition to his original state convictions on felony charges, he has been charged with escape in the 2nd degree. Olson along with inmate Jeremy R. Boggs were signed out of custody on Thursday, March 22 at 8:20 AM by Johnson Co. Jailer Doug Saylor and were last seen around 3 PM. The inmates were part of a litter collecting detail on Ky Rt 201 near Sitka in Johnson Co. at the time of their escape.

KSP Troopers apprehended Olson on Ison Rd in Elliott Co. near Sandy Hook after a foot pursuit. Jeremy Boggs was with Olson during the foot pursuit, but was reportedly able to allude capture after jumping over a cliff and was last seen running into the woods. According to Officers at the scene, the Johnson Co. Sheriff’s Office investigation of the escape provided information that led authorities to track the prisoners to Ison Rd, resulting in Olson’s capture.
