An officer with the Hopkinsville Police Department in western Kentucky was shot to death on Thursday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police issued a news release, saying the off-duty police officer was pulled over in his personal vehicle by a man pretending to be a police officer. Shortly after, the officer was shot by the suspect and died from his injuries at Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
Police are looking for a suspect identified as 35-year old James DeCoursey. He is a white male standing about six-feet-one inch tall and he’s thought to be driving a stolen white 1997 Chevy Z71 extended cab pickup with a Harley Davidson sticker on the back window. It has Kentucky tag 2070GH.
Anyone with information on DeCoursey’s whereabouts should call 911. He is considered armed and dangerous.
