The Perry Co Coroner’s Office confirmed on Monday that the remains of a woman missing since February of 2017 were discovered not long after she went missing. The identity of the remains to be confirmed took over a year. The Coroner’s Office said the skull found in the woods belonged to Maudie Smith. The Coroner Office says the remains were taken to Tennessee and Texas as organizations worked to positively identify the deceased. A cause of death has not yet been determined.
