What are 250 coal mine jobs worth in Pike County? That’s the question that’ll be before Kentucky’s Economic Development Finance Authority tomorrow. The group is being asked to award millions in tax breaks to Alliance Coal to keep its mine in the county open. Alliance says it will likely pay 200-million-dollars in wages over the next twelve years, the amount of time it is asking for the tax breaks. “The Lexington Herald Leader” says the tax breaks could be worth ten-million-dollars to Alliance.
