Officials with the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet say unemployment rates fell in all 120 counties between March 2017 and March 2018. The highest unemployment rate is 13.9% in Magoffin Co. The lowest is 3.1% in Woodford Co. Several Eastern Kentucky counties are still among the highest unemployment rates including Owsley and Wayne Co coming in at 7.7% each, Lawrence Co at 7.6% and Wolfe Co at 7.5%. Officials say employment statistics undergo sharp fluctuations due to a variety of events, including weather changes, harvests, holidays and school openings and closings.
