According to a separate news release from the KSP in Morehead, on Saturday April 28, 2018, at approximately 1825, Trooper Matt Day was on patrol in Wolfe County. While traveling along Sandy Ridge Road, Trooper Day located a suspicious vehicle parked adjacent to the roadway. Trooper Day stopped to investigate, where he received consent to search the vehicle. Trooper Day located a large amount of methamphetamine and prescription pills, as well as heroin and cash hidden inside the vehicle. Trooper Day arrested Christopher Mays, age 38 of Campton, KY and Virginia Adkins, age 44 of Campton, KY and charged them with the following charges:
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Offense>2 Grams of Methamphetamine
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Offense—Heroin
Possession of a Controlled substance 1st Offense-Drug Unspecified
Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, 1st Offense—Drug Unspecified
Christopher Mays and Virginia Adkins were lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail in Beattyville, Kentucky. The incident remains under investigation by Trooper Matt Day.
