A Morgan Co man wanted in Johnson Co. as a possible suspect in several cases of theft/burglary in the Flat Gap and Red Bush area and a wanted felon for being a non-compliant sex offender, was recently arrested in Ohio. Christopher G. Blanton, age 37 of Shop Branch in Morgan Co., has been wanted by the Johnson Co. Sheriff’s Office for some-time, but could not be located. According to information from the Sheriff Dwayne Price, Blanton was arrested last weekend in Champaign Co., Ohio. Information released said local authorities in Ohio were called to a home on Sunday, April 22 to follow up on a complaint filed the previous day. When Deputies arrived, Blanton fled the home on foot. He was later found hiding in a camper nearby. When Officers attempted to arrest Blanton allegedly struck a Deputy over the head with the handcuffs affixed to him and fled from Officers once again. Deputy’s tased Blanton two times, but he managed to pull the taser probes out and he went into a residence. According to reports from the Urbana (Ohio) Daily Citizen, following an extended period of time, Blanton was apprehended and taken into custody and transported to an area Hospital before being booked into jail. Blanton has been charged with felonious assault, a first-degree felony. He will also be questioned by the Morgan Co. Sheriff’s Office and possibly the KSP, as well as the Johnson Co. Sheriff’s Office. He has been lodged in the Tri-County Regional Jail in Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
