Nearly twenty dogs and cats were seized from a shelter in Elliott County.
The owner of The Trixie Foundation, Randy Skaggs, was reportedly arrested over a month ago and charged with 179 counts of animal cruelty.
The fate of the no-kill animal shelter has recently became a controversial topic among animal activists on social media.
Skaggs defends his care of the animals, saying they’ve been fed and it’s not their fault the animals are getting old.
He was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville back in March after police say many of the animals at the shelter were not vaccinated.
The dogs and cats seized this week were taken to a shelter in Ohio.
Skaggs is due back in court later this month to answer to the charges.
