According to a news release from the Lawrence Co. Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 1:54 pm, the Lawrence Co 911 Center received a call reference a female that had been struck and ran over by a vehicle. Upon arrival it was learned that the victim, Virginia Priode, 92 of Louisa had been struck by the open door of a vehicle driven by her husband, Guyer Priode, 92 of Louisa, subsequently resulting in Mrs. Priode being knocked down and the vehicle’s tire rolling over her. Statements showed that this occurred as Mr. Priode was backing up and was unable to stop in time. Mrs. Priode was transferred to Cabell Huntington Hospital by HealthNet Aero-medical where she passed away at 4:50 pm. Chief Deputy Mark Wheeler is in charge of this investigation. Also responding to the scene and the landing zone was Sheriff Garrett Roberts, Louisa Fire Department, NetCare Ambulance Service and Lawrence Co Emergency Management.
