According to a news release from the Johnson Co. Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 11:45 pm on Monday, May 7th, 2018, a potential theft of several items was interrupted by Deputies and the property owner. Deputies Jerry Wiley and Lauren O’Bryan of the Johnson Co Sheriff’s Office, along with the property owner (Last name was King) who called for law enforcement, halted a possible theft in progress. Deputies received a complaint about suspicious noise coming from some work equipment owned by King. King said he believed someone was stealing items that belonged to him. When deputies arrived, they could hear at least one subject, possibly more running up in the hills. The suspect(s) left their vehicle behind, which was full of Kings property. Deputies were able to collect evidence left behind and have identified possible suspect(s) involved. Deputies plan to send the evidence to the crime lab for DNA and fingerprint testing. King was able to recover his property. The vehicle was impounded. This case remains under investigation by JCSO.
