According to the Kentucky State Police, one person was killed in a crash in Letcher Co on Wednesday.
Investigators say the crash happened late Wednesday evening at the intersection of US 119 and the old 119 loop in the Payne Gap community.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash. Reports indicate that a black SUV was traveling southbound on US 119 when it crossed the center line and hit a red pickup.
Shelly Damron, 36, of Ashcamp was driving the SUV.
Damron was taken to Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital along with the driver of the pickup, Craig Carter, 56, of Whitesburg.
Both had non-life threatening injuries and have been released.
Craig’s son Joshua Carter, 32, of Nicholasville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Letcher Co Coroner.
Police say they do not know the cause of the crash at this time.
Routine toxicology results are pending.
The KSP is continuing to investigate.
