The man charged with the death of a fellow inmate in Floyd Co appeared in court Monday. Scotty Gibson is facing murder charges for the death of Adam Potter at the Floyd Co Detention Center, where they were both inmates. Officials say Gibson and Potter were involved in an altercation on June 5 at the jail. Potter would transported to Highlands Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Scotty Gibson has his bond set at $500,000 and a not guilty plea was entered. Potter was in jail charged with burglary and public intoxication, while Gibson was originally serving a twelve-month sentence for a drug court violation and was scheduled to be released this month. A pretrial date for Gibson has been set for September 20.
