According to a news release from the Johnson Co. Sheriff’s Office, on the night of Friday, July 20 2018 Deputies were called out to the residence of Virginia Shepherd and Timothy Moore in the Thelma Community of Johnson Co. Two individuals had gone to pick up two minor children from the home, but were not allowed to enter by the residents. When Deputies arrived on scene they were not allowed to enter, but were able to get Shepherd, to open the door after a period of time. After entering the residence they located the two minors in a back bedroom. While checking on the youths Deputies discovered marijuana, pills in improper containers and a plate with an unidentified powdery white substance in plain view. Deputies also identified several hydrocodone tablets hidden in a towel in the bathroom.
Moore and Shepherd admitted to the Deputies that they had been smoking marijuana. Upon further inspection, investigators believed that Moore had been snorting the powder. When they attempted to take Moore into custody he struggled with the arresting officer and had to be forcefully detained. Both were transported to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, charged with kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a minor, 2nd degree wanton endangerment, custodial interference, resisting arrest, 2nd degree disorderly conduct, menacing, 1st degree prescriptions not in original container, 2nd and 3rd degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Johnson Co. Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate this incident.
