A chemical leak forced the evacuation of a state building in Frankfort on Monday.
According to the Franklin Co Sheriff’s Office, the leak happened at the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.
Sheriff Pat Melton says the chemical is anhydrous ammonia.
The Frankfort Fire Chief says a tank of anhydrous ammonia leaked but it was contained to one room.
A spokesperson for the organization says they have decided to send everyone home for the rest of the day.
The air quality test came back fine, but to play it safe, they will send everyone home.
They will resume work at regular hours today.
