A single vehicle crash happened Tuesday afternoon in Johnson Co. According to reports from Paintsville/Johnson Co. 911, a call came in around 1:33 PM from a residence located on Puncheon creek in the Sitka community of Johnson Co along Ky Rt 1092 near the Fathers House of Prayer Church/old Kerz Church location. Reports indicated that a vehicle had lost control and went over an embankment with two people inside and struck a tree. Members of the Flat Gap VFD and W.R. Castle Fire and Rescue responded to this location and upon arrival located the vehicle. Reports indicated the two occupants were trapped inside the car due to rolling over onto its side. Also one of the occupants inside was reported to be unconscious when emergency crews arrived and the other was alert, but trapped. Emergency crews worked at the accident scene for nearly an hour to free the occupants from the vehicle. Johnson Co. Coroner J.R. Frisby was called to this location because one of the occupants, identified as Toby Hall Conley, 69 of Sitka, did not survive the accident and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Attempts to fly the other injured person out was unsuccessful due to the weather conditions at the time of the accident, so that person, identity not officially released, was transported by Paintsville EMS to Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center for treatment. KSP Trooper Joseph Weddington is investigating this accident. WSIP/WKLW will bring you further updates once they become available.
