A Harlan Co. man has been arrested after Police said he shot his teenage son following an argument about not going to school.
Another student informed school officials about the shooting and school officials contacted authorities.
The Harlan Co Sheriff’s Office investigated the claims and was informed Chad Cox, 41, of Cumberland had been in an argument with his 17-year-old son.
Things got heated and Cox threatened his son with a.22 rifle.
Police said the gun fired and the bullet hit Cox’s son in the left leg.
The teenager was admitted to Harlan ARH for treatment of his injuries.
Cox has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree terroristic threatening and wanton endangerment.
He was lodged in the Harlan Co Detention Center.
