According to the Hazard Police Dept. a “threat” was reported to the Perry Co Superintendent’s Office around 7 a.m. Thursday morning against Hazard High School. School officials contacted authorities who began to investigate the “threat.”
Hazard High School, as well as Perry Co Central High School both placed on lockdown.
Reports indicated that Officers with the Hazard Police Dept. were able to quickly find and capture the suspect at a local restaurant who made the “threat” not long after the call came in.
Police said the suspect was a juvenile and was taken to the juvenile detention center in Breathitt Co, pending a hearing Friday in Perry Co District Court.
The juvenile faces a felony charge of second-degree terroristic threatening.
