Dozens of malnourished horses and mules were rounded up in Boyd Co. and taken off a man’s property. Reports suggested that the horses were on about 300 acres of property along Bolts Fork in the Rush area of Boyd Co. Neighbors had been making complaints about horses and mules looking like they were in poor shape. Those complaints reached the desk of Boyd Co animal control officer, Paul Helton who says he and deputies executed a search warrant on Thursday. Officer Helton said the animals looked like they were malnourished. The animals were seized on Thursday and continued on Friday with the help of rescue groups and neighbors with horse trailers. Officer Helton says it’s expected the owner will be charged with animal cruelty and neglect and the horses will have to be placed in foster care.
