A veteran lawmaker in Kentucky has formally announced his candidacy for the office of governor. Rocky Adkins a Democrat from Sandy Hook in Elliott Co made the announcement on Wednesday in Morehead. Adkins has been a fixture in State Government since 1987 serving as a State Representative and he was the majority floor leader in the state House until 2016. Adkins joins fellow Democrat and current state Attorney General Andy Beshear, who launched his campaign in July, to announce their bid for the state’s top office. Current Kentucky Governor, Republican Matt Bevin, announced in August that he will also run for re-election. Kentucky is one of three states that will elect a Governor in 2019, joining Louisiana and Mississippi.
